MESSAGE

Development of Graphene Mesosponge (GMS) and other new carbon materials

We have succeeded in creating a three-dimensional porous structure of graphene sheets as an important carbon material for energy storage and power generation devices. Graphene mesosponge (GMS), a signature material, has unique properties such as high adsorption capacity, oxidation resistance, high conductivity, and mechanical flexibility.

Introduction to Research

Synthesized ordered porous carbon with embedded mononuclear Co and Cu sites and discovered specific in-solid interactions between Co and Cu. Successful transmission electron microscopy with high resolution by inserting hemoglobin inside a giant hollow carbon nano test tube.

Introduction Research

Objective

As a social implementation of GMS, we aim to apply GMS to various fields such as electric double layer capacitors, lithium-ion batteries and next-generation batteries, fuel cells, heat pumps, and catalyst carriers.
